The city of Tavares is located in Lake County, next to Mount Dora. Tavares Florida is less than a one hour commute from Orlando. Tavares has served as the County Seat for Lake County, Florida since 1888 and now is known as America’s Seaplane City with a fully geared base and marina on Lake Dora. It has a landing base for north American Seaplane and from international destinations.

Tavares downtown was redeveloped in 2010. It lies on the shores of Lake Dora, and has the small town charm lacking in most cities. Picturesque Wooton Park sits only one block from Main Street and offers families everything from picnic pavilions, boat ramps, water rentals, and other activities. Tavares is also home to the Dora Canal known to be one of the most beautiful waterways in the world. Live on Deer Island with refreshing Lake Views and golfing year round.

Located along Highway 441 corridor, Tavares boasts a bustling economic climate with national, regional and local businesses in the downtown business district. It is a small town community (pop. about 13,951) with lakes and recreational activities for all ages.
